About us
Our full-service, purpose-built Animal Hospital is led by Dr Mike Woodham, a graduate of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery from Murdoch University and the owner of Sugarland Animal Hospital, our city’s only Accredited Animal Hospital of Excellence, and one of only 5 ASAV Accredited Hospitals in all of Queensland! Dr Mike is unwavering in his commitment to providing best-practice veterinary care and ensuring an environment where our team members can thrive. This commitment to excellence is at the heart of our hospital’s values, instilling confidence in our standards among our clients.
Dr Mike is supported by a team of over 30 vets, nurses, and support team members, each with their unique interests but all equally dedicated to providing quality veterinary care with passion and compassion. Our practice culture is deeply collaborative; we excel at responding positively to pressure, and we are also not afraid to share a laugh when pets do what they invariably do. We strive to create an environment where everyone feels welcomed and part of a supportive team, and we are proud to be once again selected as both an AVA & Lincoln Institute Employer of Choice for 2024.
We are well-resourced with the latest in-house lab, radiograph facilities, ultrasonography, plus a CT, a dedicated triage room, a team of qualified and highly trained veterinary technicians, and much more! We continue to invest wisely in our equipment to enable us to deliver best-practice medical and surgical treatments.
We understand that our team is the foundation for our success, and we are equally happy to invest in your development and any specialties you may be interested in pursuing. Over and above this is our interest in you as a person, from ensuring dedicated breaks to scheduled time off to even offering an understanding ear on those challenging days that may rarely but inevitably occur. We actively encourage new ideas and innovations from our team and proactively implement them together with any related equipment resources.
I am incredibly thankful to the team at Sugarland Animal Hospital for looking after my little Loki so well. He was a tricky case, & there were some ups and downs, but the team called me every few hours with updates, which I really appreciated. Everyone on the staff I interacted with was so compassionate & understanding of our situation. Dr Kimberly & Brooke were very knowledgeable & kind throughout the stressful few days – I trusted Loki was in good hands. I am extremely grateful for everyone who had a hand in helping Loki come home – Edne B – Google Review
